How does Frontline Shield for Dogs work?

Once applied, Frontline Shield for Dogs is stored in the sebaceous glands in your dog’s skin and spreads over the whole-body surface with their natural oils protecting your dog for 30 days. Fleas and ticks are killed through contact with your dog’s skin and coat, so they do not need to bite to be killed.

Why is it important to tackle flea eggs as well as fleas?

Even if you have treated your dog for fleas, some fleas may lay eggs before dying, therefore it is important to tackle flea eggs. Frontline Shield for Dogs kills fleas before most fleas have time to lay eggs. The pyriproxyfen in Frontline Shield for Dogs prevents development of flea eggs and flea larvae, breaking the flea life cycle.

Indications for use

Frontline Shield is designed for easy application and to protect your dog against fleas, ticks, chewing lice, mosquitoes, and stable flies.

Administration and dosage

1. Open the package by cutting one blister on the dotted line with scissors. Pull the foil apart and take the applicator out of the package. Alternatively, fold the blister at the line on the corner, then use the pre-cut slit to tear the blister open and take the applicator out of the package.

2. Cut the tip of the applicator open with scissors, keeping the applicator pointed away from your own face and that of any animal or person. Never allow the product to make contact with your dog's mouth or eyes.

3. Part the dog's hair between his or her shoulder blades, exposing the skin at the application site. For small dogs, dispense the entire contents at this single site. For medium to large dogs, divide the dose between three separate sites along the back. For extra large dogs, the product should be dispensed in four sites. Never apply on top of the dog's coat.

4. Re-apply monthly, preferably on the same day each month.
