Kordon's Rid-Ich Plus (formerly known as Rid-Ich +) is a combination of two powerful medications which have proven effective in the control of many diseases of freshwater fishes caused by external protozoan (single cell) parasites such as white spot disease, Ichthyophthiriasis, Costia, Trichodina, Chilodonella and saltwater external parasites such as Cryptocaryon and Amyloodinium. The medication can also treat fungal infections in fishes. The Rid·Ich Plus formula utilizes the less common but also less toxic chloride salt of malachite green.

Active ingredients

Contains Formaldehyde 4.26% (11.52% formalin) and zinc-free chloride salt of malachite green.

Indications for use

Kordon's Rid-Ich Plus is indicated to control Ich & other external protozoan, dinoflagellate & fungal diseases of fish. For fresh and saltwater fish.

Administration and dosage

Shake bottle before using. A partial water change (25% or more) before each treatment will ensure more effective results. Siphoning old water from the bottom of the tank near gravel level where Ich tomites can be found is the most effective method for water changes. Remove carbon from filters during treatment.

1. Dose: Add 10 drops per gallon (3.78 liters) or 1 teaspoonful (approx. 5 mL) of Rid-Ich Plus for every 10 gallons of water to be treated - this produces a concentration of 0.05 mg/L malachite green and 15 mg/L formalin. The standard treatment is once every 24 hours.

2. Repeat the full dosage as needed.

3. Do not increase or decrease the amount of the dose. For stubborn cases, shorten the time between treatments to once every 12 hours.

4. For delicate or weakened fish, use caution when shortening the time between treatments. When treating for ich, continue treatment for 3 to 4 days after last visible signs (white spots) of the disease have disappeared.

5. Protein skimmers need not be turned off during treatment.
